Executive Summary

Working paper 202 contains AFREPREN/FWD research outlines and conceptual frameworks for 1996 in Section I and research outlines for 1998 in Section II. These research outlines and conceptual frameworks are for the following theme groups: Institutions, Management and Efficiency, Environment, Climate and Energy, Capacity Building and, Finance and Markets. In Section I, each theme group has a chapter with sub-sections, which discusses its background, giving details of what the research study will cover. This is followed by the study’s focus, outlined in the objectives the theme group intends to meet. Planned activities, mostly meetings to be held by the theme group follow. Immediately after, countries participating in the research study are listed, each with the names of its members and their membership capacity. Then, the limit to number of words, format and contents for each chapter are given under report guidelines, which precede the research study methodology. Section II has all the aforementioned sub-sections, with an addition of activities to date sub-section just after the study objectives sub-section, which outlines the number of meetings held, the purpose of the meetings and their outcomes.
