Rationale and Objectives

The 1999 AFREPREN/FWD General Assembly recommended the establishment of National Focal Points.  Mr. M. Katyega of Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) was selected as the National Focal Point coordinator for Tanzania.

The National Focal Points have been tasked with conducting National Policy Seminars in their respective countries in order to:

• Disseminate AFREPREN/FWD research findings,

• Ascertain the policy research priorities of key energy sector stakeholders.

Therefore, the proposed national seminar will present recent research findings conducted in the country including the following:

• Power sector reform

• Management and efficiency of the power sector
