World Bank Lecture Series - March 24, 2003: "Improving Modern Energy Services for Africa's Urban Poor - Viewpoints from the African Energy Policy Research Network" The World Bank organised a series of energy lectures in 2003 on improving access to modern energy services for the poor. AFREPREN/FWD gave a lecture on 24th March 2003 as part of the World Bank lecture series titled “Improving Modern Energy Services for Africa’s Urban Poor – Viewpoints from the African Energy Policy Research Network”. The lecture featured 3 speakers from the AFREPREN/FWD Network – Oscar Kalumiana from Zambia, Simbarashe Mangwengwende from Zimbabwe and Stephen Karekezi from the AFREPREN/FWD Secretariat. The lecture series was instrumental in informing the World Bank’s priorities on increasing access to modern energy services and poverty reduction.
