Bridging Research and Policy Project (BPR)

AFREPREN/FWD is undertaking a study on the linkages between research and policy in the energy sector in Eastern and Southern Africa.  The study, which is a follow-up to the Case study of AFREPREN/FWD prepared under phase I of the project, covers five countries in Eastern and Southern Africa (Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Botswana and Zimbabwe).  AFREPREN/FWD participated in the GDN Annual Conference which was held in  January 2004 in New Delhi, India, to mark the start of the project. Researchers undertaking the various studies under phase II of the project had a chance to interact and propose ways to handle the common challenges faced in this project.

AFREPREN/FWD held the first Regional Seminar for the study on 18th -19th March 2004 in Nairobi, Kenya where Country team members developed methodology to be used in the study. Download the draft seminar report in PDF format.

It  brought together the participating team members of the  AFREPREN/FWD study titled “Research and Policy Linkages in the Energy Sector of Eastern and Southern Africa”. The main objective of the Seminar was to assess the progress of the project and seek solutions to methodological challenges being experienced in the country studies.
